1 What is filler masterbatch? What is the difference between filler masterbatch and traditional resins?

Filler masterbatch is a combination between traditional resins (PP, PE, HIPS,…), CaCO3, and appropriate additives in the masterbatch form. Hence, it is not resin. However, it can be used to partly replace resin, which resutls in cost – effectiveness for manufacturers.

2 Why should you use filler masterbatch?

Filler masterbatch works by replacing a part of virgin resin, which results in production cost reduction, thus improving end-products competitiveness.

Also, with an appropriate amount, filler masterbatch significantly lifts end-products performance (stiffness, impact strength, printability,…), saves energy and accelerates the production cycle thanks to CaCO3 good thermal ability

3 Does filler masterbatch have any degradative effects on end-products?

With an appropriate usage rate, filler masterbatch hardly has any bad effects on end-products mechanical properties or quality. Hence, you may not concern about this problem.

1 In which applications is filler masterbatch commonly used?

Filler masterbatch is widely used in several fields:

  • Blown films (shopping bags, roll bags, garbage bags,…)
  • Raffia: cereals bags, FIBCs, industrial bags, jumbo bags,…
  • Non woven
  • Extrusion, injection molding
  • Thermoformed sheet (cups, plates, trays, pots, construction sheets, household appliances, car interiors,…)

2 In which applications is filler masterbatch commonly used?

According to each end-products’ characteristics, EuP will advise the most appropriate usage rate of filler masterbatch. Normally, it comes between 10% and 40%.

1 What is color masterbatch? What is it made of?

Color masterbatch is a common coloring method for plastic. It is made of virgin resin, mixed with pigments and specific additives in the form of masterbatch.

2 What is color masterbatch’s advantages compared to pigment?

Color masterbatch has several advantages that outweigh pigments:

  • Great dispersion on end-products surface thanks to compatible size with polymer molecules
  • Higher color fastness
  • Adding more features to end-products, such as anti-aging, anti-UV, … to improve the quality and service life of end-products.
  • Easier to store and delivery
  • Less dust during processing
  • Saving energy

4 Do color masterbatch come with any special effects?

Vinplastics color masterbatch not only offers required colors, but also provides special effects for end-products, including iridescent effect, mother-of-pearl, pearlescent, transparency, glow, veinstone, glitter,… to increase end-products aestheticity and economic value.

2 What is the suitable usage rate of color masterbatch for the best effectiveness?

Based on end-products’ characteristics, EuP will advise the most appropriate usage rate of color masterbatch. Normally, it comes between 2% and 5% of total composition.

1 Why should you use additives?

During manufacturing process and service life, plastic products are prone to environmental factors, such as temperature, moisture, light, dust in the air, external impact,…) or internal factors from the polymer itself. These elements result in ineffective processing, products’ defects or short lifespan.

Hence, additives play a vital part in improving the production efficiency, products quality, usage effectiveness and longevity.

2 Does additives have any degradative effects on end-products?

With an appropriate usage rate, additives have no negative effects on the appearance and quality of end-products. Also, they introduces several benefits to end-products manufacturing process and service lives.

3 Can Vinplastics provide tailor-made colors?

Compared to powdery additives, additive masterbatch is more preferred by customers thanks to these 2 main reasons:

  • There is already an amount of resin in additive masterbatch. Thus, its compatibility to resin is significantly higher than that of powdery additives
  • Additive masterbatch’s particle size is similar to polymer molecular size, making it disperse more evenly on end-products’ surface.

These above help end-products with masterbatch additives more stable and of higher quality compared to those with powdery form.

4 How many types of additives do Vinplastics provide?

Vinplastics now provides 11 types of common additives, such as UV stabilizer, anti-aging additives, flame retardant, antistatic additives,…, and are still working on new products development

According to each types of additives and end-products’ requirements, EuP will advise the most appropriate usage rate of additives. Normally, it comes between 0.1% and 7% of total composition
